Did you live in Levitt House (later called LeHavre), in Whitestone (Queens) NY, during the late 1950s or early 1960s?

Enter the Levitt House Memories Forum

This site grew out of my curiosity to learn what became of the people I knew as a teenager.

Who were you then? Who are you now? What do you remember about living in this remarkable housing development of striped buildings and world-of-tomorrow appliances (remember the wall-hung refrigerators?). Does anyone recall the tenant revolt over pest control ("Tenants Ready for Bug House!")?

Levitt House opened in 1958; when my family moved in, our building had not yet been painted. I moved away in 1961, the summer before my senior year of high school. If your memories are of a later era, you're also welcome to contribute.

To help jog your memory, here are a floor plan, a site map, and a photo of the old clubhouse, and other information about the development.

I've set this site up as a forum, so that we can read each other's entries and learn what happened to the kids we used to dance with at the teen club, the pals we sat with at the swimming pools.

What do you remember? Who do you remember? Who were you and who have you become? Add your memories to the forum.
